BGA Members are invited to attend a "mini geotechnical workshop" at the University of Pecs in Hungary on "Collapses – understanding the problems and finding solutions" to be held on the 2nd March. Full details. Application form.
The 2011 MSc Disertation Prize has been awarded to Thomas Clifford for his work entitled Designing for Rockfall in Quarries.
The organising committee for the 18th International Conference on Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering in Paris (2013) have provided an abstract template. Please submit your abstracts to bga@britishgeotech.org.uk by the 9th March so that we can coordinate submissions in accordance with the conference programme.
2012 Shamsher Prakash Research Award. Nominations are sought for this award for young engineers and scients (40 years or younger).The candidates should be specialists in Geotechnical Engineering and/or Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering and it is necessary that they have significant independent contributions and show promise of excellence in research. The Award consists of cash prize US 00.00 and a plaque. Deadline for entries: 31st March 2012. Entry details.
Please note, in 2012, our Annual Conference and AGM meeting with be on the 19th September, rather than the usual timing in mid June. This is due to the presence of the Queen's Jubilee and the Olypmics in quick succession.
